Surgery Options

Obesity Surgical options in New Jersey are limited by two things; insurance coverage for the procedure and surgical expertise with appropriate aftercare options. The main considerations for most individuals include the Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Band Surgeries as these are covered by most insurances within the state. Scientific evidence exists to demonstrate the effectiveness, safety and durability of the results of each option.

WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING SURGERY OPTIONS

Gastric Bypass Surgery

Adjustable Gastric Band / Lap Band Surgery

The Adjustable Gastric Band procedure is often called “LAP-BAND” surgery. There are actually two different gastric bands; the “LAP-BAND®” and the “REALIZE Band™”.

Duodenal Switch Surgery

Duodenal switch surgery is the most effective Bariatric surgery currently performed for total weight loss and control of diabetes. It is not the most common procedure performed however due to its complexity and risk of complications.

Revision Surgery

Weight loss surgery for morbid obesity is complex as a first procedure. Revision surgery becomes even more complex because of scar tissue and the alteration of normal anatomy from the original procedure.

Capella

The NJ Bariatric Institute surgeons are familiar with the Capella Procedure as a primary weight loss operation. They are also familiar with revision surgery for patients who had the Capella procedure in the past.
